about

rose (noun) - a thing representing or resembling the flower, in particular.

roses,or flowers in general, are beautiful in the sense that they live and die before your eyes, you see their entire life happen over the course of weeks or months. it's true beauty to see something not only grow but also wither away for you have seen every intimate detail of that living things life.

roses are so beautiful and look so welcoming, yet they have a defense, thorns protruding to keep them safe. i think that is very telling and that is why i have always been fond of roses, because we are so much alike one another.

this album comes from a place of growing and bettering myself. there are many flaws with rose but it is a piece of me as a writer and a musician, and it's flaws are my flaws. it was entirely self recorded in various bedrooms.

what you hear is me trying to replicate the beauty of rose through sound and words and i hope that is what has been accomplished here through these songs.

i love you all, and i can not thank you enough for listening.
without further ado, i present

rose

Track Name: plans
fall asleep when the moon comes up
you're crying like a new born baby
i know your daddy don't like me
but you never listen to him anyway
and i think about your lips a lot
and i think about your words
sometimes you speak like a poet
sometimes you speak just to be heard

and flowers don't know
if they're people or plants
they just grow and then die
does that sound familiar to your plans
and i'm always wondering
if you're thinking about dying
i miss pushing back your red hair
i hate how you alway lies about things i wish you didn't lie about

you talk an awful lot about god
but i can tell that you're not friends
it hurts that you up and left
after working your way into all of my plans
Track Name: dress
baby in your red dress
you look like a flower
baby you look your best
stepping out the shower

and i love the way you talk quietly in the night
asking for something to make you feel alive

and baby with your thick hips
looking at me with those brown eyes
and baby with your pink lips
telling all those white lies

and i love the way you talk quietly in the night
asking for something to make you feel alive
Track Name: fleur
soft eyes shine bioluminescent in the dark
and i can't read without my glasses on
but i'm close enough to read your eyes
and there's just enough light from the moon
tomorrow you will walk alone in the streets
looking for a place with something to eat
that won't upset your fragile stomach
you always get sick when you get to nervous

and i miss you coming home drunk smelling like cigarettes
i miss you trying to speak high school level french
i think about you wearing your lace as you danced
and how you were happiest with flowers in your hands

and how i could still be your man

and those young kids with run through the streets
with capitalistic dreams of too much money
but i find it hard to buy into materialistic things
and i guess that's why we can never be the same
and i dream of long nights trying to find the right way to sleep
so i can hear everytime that your heart would beat
oh, i wanna be everything you need
oh, i wanna be everything you need

and i miss you coming home drunk smelling like cigarettes
i miss you trying to speak high school level french
i think about you wearing your lace as you danced
and how you were happiest with flowers in your hands
Track Name: garden
we waltzed across the floor
as the moon came through the window
i slid off her dress
before i pushed her onto the bed

her lips were the colors of roses
and tasted like nectar of spring
her body is a garden
and i will kiss all her flowers like the bees
Track Name: anneliese
she walks through a field of flowers
at the peak of early morning hours
the thorns kiss her skin
the petal the same color as her lips

and anneliese i wanna see you blossom

she smiles and looks off into space
and i think about holding her hand
and i think about being her man

and anneliese i wish i could give you more than just me

and when the wolves come a-knocking
where will you go a-walking
will you be by my side
ready for me to die
Track Name: reprise
when the wolves go a knocking
where will u go a walking
will u be by my side
ready for me to die
Track Name: grave
i came in through your front door
but i went out your window
almost severed my ankle before hiding in the bushes

convoluted dreams suffocate the would be sleeper
before his foot falls off the bed causing him to wake
we all lived in trees long ago, we were animals for heavens sake

& from the dirt we came
& to the dirt we will go
at my grave darling plant a rose
let me be a rose
