i woke up wearing all white linen on a bed made of branches, covered in roses and animal bones. when i set up, i could see the mischievous beings looking at me, surrounding me, the mountain in the distance. we were in the meadow. i could see the flowers falling around them. they approached me and placed red paint on my face and motioned me to follow. they placed a crown of flowers on my head, and with two claps we ran off into the forest, free of any mountain looming over me.
the end.

lyrics
i am now dead
sound the drums
sing the songs
i am now free
of the curse you
had over me
we run, we run
through the early morning
we run, we run
from all the things that haunt us
and i'm tired, i'm tired
of always running
and i'm tired, i'm tired
of always running
so maybe i'll confront something
maybe i'll confront something
1, 2, 3 ,4 keep up, keep up now
and you loomed over me

The Alabama singer-songwriter may have turned in his guitars for synths and drum machines, but his music is no less personal or incisive. Bandcamp New & Notable May 28, 2019
