i followed the firefly towards the mountain as it slowly blinked every few seconds. the mischievous beings ran alongside me as we sang. the one firefly turned into another which turned into another. soon there were hundreds of fireflies flying around as we ran through the forest. i could see the blurs of bodies alongside me as we sprinted, breathing heavy in the dark, cold moss under our feet. they brought us to the base of the mountain. they all went out one by one until we were sitting in nothing but the light of the moon, panting for air.
